On July 1, 1996, Court TV held a same-sex marriage debate between lawyers Evan Wolfson and Rick Duncan. 

Wolfson is the director of The Marriage Project for Lambda Legal Defense, the leading civil rights group for gay men and lesbians. He is co-counsel in Baehr v. Miike, the Hawaii case seeking the freedom to marry for gay and lesbian people.

Duncan is a professor at the University of Nebraska College of Law. He wrote a Supreme Court brief on behalf of several states in support of Colorado's anti-gay rights law.
